FAQ

What is the UF DAM?

The UF Digital Asset Management System (DAM) is a collection of images and videos available to faculty and staff for feature in digital and print materials related to the University of Florida. These assets are categorized and grouped into specific “Portals,” which can be accessed via the links below.

The DAM is hosted and managed by the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing.

What happened to PhotoShelter?

The UF DAM has replaced PhotoShelter to house a more robust multimedia repository — now also offering an expanded library of videography. The sophisticated metadata provides improved search functionality and the intuitive interface offers a better user experience overall. PhotoShelter access expires on Nov. 1, 2024, but all brand imagery hosted on this tool has been transferred to the Portals below.

How do I credit the photos?

Crediting the asset creator/generator is required if an external organization, such as a news outlet, uses imagery (photo or video) from one of the UF DAM Portals. Credit should be attributed to “University of Florida.”

For internal publications, credit is preferred but not required for use in collateral. When used, credit should be formatted as “Creative’s name | UF or UF college/unit name,” as applicable. This information can be located under the “Attribution” field associated with each asset.

CARE TO CONTRIBUTE?

As we grow our updated photo and video collection, we would love to incorporate assets captured by your talented teams – boosting reach and strengthening the university’s visual storytelling efforts. To submit files for the DAM, please reach out to (something that is not Zach’s contact info here).
